The Editing intern will be exposed to projects while they are still in the development process. The intern will work with the publishing department to help construct marketable books and to create documents for distribution to authors on a variety of topics relating to writing and self-publishing.

Duties

  • Write and edit back cover text for books
  • Perform content reviews for manuscripts
  • Review and make editing corrections in book layouts
  • Assist in ghostwriting projects
  • Write and edit entries for company newsletter and blog
  • Assist editor in projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong copyediting skills (will be asked to take an editing test)
  • Proficient in MS Word
  • Familiar with MS Excel
  • Preferably familiar with InDesign and FileMaker Pro
  • Preferably familiar with Chicago Manual of Style

Preferred Majors

  • English
  • Journalism
  • Communications

*Our internship opportunities are un-paid and are available for course credit throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters, though you do not need to receive course credit to participate.
