Television opportunities range from nationally syndicated talk shows and news programs to local news outlets and community entertainment programs.
Television interviews are usually conducted in person, whether in the studio or at a book event location (such as a book signing or demonstration). Television interviews may also be conducted via satellite if the author does not live in the area and is unable to travel.
Television opportunities are some of the most coveted interviews because they reach the largest audience and bring the author and the book into homes across the nation. These outlets are typically contacted toward the end of the campaign, once the author has built up his or her media experience.
These interviews are difficult to secure and tend to be abbreviated, lasting only a couple of minutes. Because of the intense competition for this kind of media coverage, it is imperative that authors perform well on the air, which is why a large portion of our author media training sessions focus specifically on the television format.
