Authors often mistakenly assume that once the publication date arrives their work is done. But in this competitive industry, success is never guaranteed and it certainly doesn't happen overnight. The level of success an author achieves is determined by many factors; one of the most important is author participation once promotion begins.
BookPros authors participate in the promotion of their book not only by attending interviews secured by the campaign manager, but with their own grassroots marketing initiatives as well.
Book signings, speaking engagements and other promotional events are an excellent way to build a platform for your book and develop an audience on a local level. While the publicity team does not schedule events, they have the industry knowledge and experience necessary to help BookPros' authors schedule promotional events on their own. Also, BookPros' design staff can develop marketing materials to enhance each author's promotional efforts. Once an appearance is scheduled, the publicity campaign manager provides support by pursuing local coverage, calendar listings and other media attention surrounding the event.
Beyond media coverage, scheduling a book signing or event at a local bookstore is a compelling motivator for the store manager to stock the title, and a creative event with a local tie-in is a significantly more enticing media hook than a simple story pitch. We strongly encourage our authors to develop an intense marketing plan to supplement the publicity efforts of the Phenix & Phenix team. As the author, you are the best spokesperson for your book—you should be prepared to play a key role in its promotion.
