Studies show that up to 50% of consumers shop for books online. While only 7% go on to purchase books via the Internet, listing books with online retailers and registering them with book search programs—like Google Book Search and Amazon Search Inside—can be an excellent way to grow your audience and increase your book's exposure.
Both Google Book Search and Amazon Search Inside were created to give consumers an opportunity to look inside the covers of a book before purchasing it. Despite a similar purpose, these programs operate differently and offer the consumer unique information, which is why BookPros titles are registered with both services.
Google Book Search allows people to search a limited preview of a book's content. It also includes participating titles in relevant Google search results, increasing the book's opportunities for online exposure. This service is only available to books registered with the Google Book Search website at books.google.com.
Unlike Google Book Search, Amazon Search Inside only allows users to view the first few pages of a book. It includes a keyword/phrase search tool, which allows consumers to seek out specific terms or phrases within the text. When readers search Amazon.com, the search engine automatically searches inside participating books as well. This service is only available to books sold on Amazon.com.
