Most online book printing companies use only the Print-On-Demand (POD) production method. At BookPros, we offer POD through our Bridgeway Books imprint. We also print offset through our Bridgeway Books and Synergy Books imprints.

POD uses a digital file of a book to print individual copies through what is, essentially, a giant copier. Offset printing is a cost-efficient way to produce a large number of high quality documents. It requires a higher up-front cost than POD but is cheaper per book when printing large quantities. Traditional offset printing starts by taking photos of high-resolution original documents. The printer makes negatives which in turn are used to create plates. Today, a digital copy of the document can also be used instead of photos to directly make plates. Offset printing requires more time than POD printing, however.

Lulu is an example of an online book printing company that prints a variety of products on demand, including books, music, comics and photos. BookLocker is another example of an online book printing company that publishes electronic books (e-books) and POD books. BookPros specializes in and focuses solely on paperback and hardcover books. BookPros helps authors design, publish, print and publicize their books as well, but focuses on creating high quality books with media appeal.
