A digital book printer utilizes a relatively new digital technology. BookPros uses a digital book printer for most of its short-run imprints. This method of printing is commonly referred to as Print-On-Demand technology or POD. Books print one at a time, whenever a customer orders your book. This allows the author to save money on printing and devote it to other areas like marketing or publicity. We also print using the traditional offset method. With offset printing, books are printed in large numbers, meaning that the initial cost is expensive, but when printed in volume, the cost per book is cheaper than those from digital book printers. The books produced by offset printing are also of a higher quality than POD books.
A digital book printer takes out many of the steps involved in the conventional printing process and can help you meet any printing need quickly. The downside to using a digital book printer is that the quality of the print is not always as clear as offset printing.
Our Bridgeway Books imprint uses digital book printers in different ways. Synergy Books and Bridgeway Books also use the offset method for books that are to be inventoried with distributors. Check out those imprints for more information on digital and offset printing.
