Galleys and BLADs (basic layout and design) are two cost-efficient methods for publishers to submit books to media outlets and book reviewers before they hit the market. BookPros' printing and design departments work together to produce galleys or full-color BLADs of BookPros titles as needed.

Galleys, also known as advance review copies, are paperback books publishers print (typically at a lower cost than finished copies) to submit to the media and book reviewers. This can be particularly cost-effective if the finished book will be hardcover. BLADs are commonly used for books with full-color interiors (especially children's books) and are typically wire-bound. They consist of a front cover, a back cover and a few sample interior pages. Galleys and BLADs are primarily intended as pre-publication samples to be sent out to major book reviewers and industry trade publications, which require books to be submitted several months prior to hitting the market.
